The Dew Tour, an extreme sports event is controlled and arranged by NBC, an USA sports broadcaster and Alli Sports. Alli sports is a sports broadcaster that focuses on extreme sports. Those who take part in the competition compete to win gold, silver and bronze medals and money.
The tour is divided into two parts. The winter DEW tour and the Summer Dew tour.
-Winter Dew Tour.
The first Tour was the winter Tour. It focuses on winter extreme sports. The first winter tour was held in 2009/2008 winter. The events that took place where freestyle skiing and snowboarding. The participants in this competition were fighting for the gold and the money. Though the money was not that much at that time, it was the chance and adrenaline involved that drew participants from all over the country. After the debut of the winter dew tour in 2008, the even has been taking place every subsequent winter.
-Summer Dew Tour
-The summer tour was launched on 2005. After the debut of the summer dew tour, the winter dew tour now consists of 3 main events. Freestyle skiers and snowboarders earn points over the season. The athlete with the most points takes the One crown. Though the main events are skiing and snowboarding, there other multiple events that take place in each stop. These includes the slop style and superpipe for both men and women.
The proceeding of the event are broadcasted live on NBC on the United States and MTV and MTV2.
On May 2013, the United States Ski Association and the snowboarding association entered an agreement with Alli to allow the winter tour to be held in Breckenridge, Colorado to serve as a qualifier at the 2014 winter Olympics. This gave the USSA some control over some technical aspects of the competition such as its format, selling of tickets and advertising and even its sponsors during its telecast.
The dew 2015 season will kick off in Chicago June 20th to 21st. The first stop will be in Windy city. The newly constructed Grant Park Skate Plaza will host the skateboarding and the BMX competition. As usually, there is a lot of excitement in store for the fans and competitors. After the inclusion of the tours innovative street style discipline.
